Day 1 : Arrive Delhi - The capital city of Republic of India
Atithi Devo Bhava (Guest is God). Traditional welcome by garlanding on arrival at Delhi international airport by Travel Pals executive. Transferred in your exclusive car to your hotel.
New Delhi - On December 12, 1911, George V, the then Emperor of India along with Queen Mary made the announcement to shift the Capital of the British Raj from Calcutta to Delhi at the Delhi Durbar and laying the foundation stone for Viceroy's residence in the Coronation Park. The capital city can be easily divided into two parts - Old & New Delhi. While Shahjahan built a new walled city which served as the capital of Mughal Empire from 1649 to 1857 AD and is now regarded as Old Delhi has many ancient & medieval monuments, archaeological sites & remains. The New Delhi was planned & built by leading 20th century British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker and contracted to Sir Sobha Singh. The present President House, Indian Parliament & other Government Secretariat buildings were built by them.
Day 2 : Delhi - Explore the capital !
For all those fitness freak, an early morning walk along the colonial lanes of Lutyens' Delhi can be quite refreshing and for more adventurous one's, an extension to the Rajpath can be quite enthralling. Breakfast at the hotel followed by a guided tour of historic city of Delhi. The city where one can experience the influence of the many rulers who ruled this region, a city built and destroyed and re-built over seven times. The guided tour takes you to the monuments that depict the different eras. The tour includes visit to the magnificent Red Fort (exterior), the Jama Masjid - one of the Asia's largest mosque, enjoy the cycle rickshaw ride in the narrow by lanes of Old Delhi visiting Chawri Bazar, Dariba Kalan (silver market) witnessing the century old business markets. It is the largest wholesale market of Asia. Later visit Rajghat - the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi - the "Father of the Nation". Afternoon tour of New Delhi to include Humayun's Tomb, drive past through Rashtrapati Bhawan (Viceroy's House), Parliament Building and halt for a photo stop at India Gate - war memorial.
End your tour with a visit to Qutab Minar - 73 mt. tall minaret.
Day 3 : Delhi - Agra (By Road - 204 Kms / 3.5 hours)
Driven around 0800 hours south east of Delhi to famous city of Agra - the land of the seventh wonder of the world - Taj Mahal.
On arrival, greeted by your guide at Itimad-Ud-Daulah (baby Taj) for a relaxed walk through the lovely landscaped garden and water channel through to the main building on the banks of river Yamuna. It is a fine example of Mughal art precision of intricate inlay work with precious stones on a white marble tomb built in 1628 by Noor Jahan for her father. She was wife of fourth Mughal emperor Jahangir. It is also believer that it acted as a draft to Taj Mahal thus getting it's nickname as Baby Taj.
Post lunch visit the grand Agra Fort - built in red sandstone by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.
Evening at leisure or visit the workshop to witness the art of Pietra Dura - A unique art of inlay work of cutting marble and fitting it with highly polished colored stones to create images. The same as perfected in the architecture of Taj Mahal. Note: Taj Mahal is closed on all Friday
Day 4 : Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur (260 kms / 05 hrs)
Dawn-view visit of Taj Mahal to witness the wonderous white marble which seems to change colours owing to it's porous nature absorbing light of the sun. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and ones of the seven wonders of the world, was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Best viewed & enjoyed in the non-chaotic and less crowded time of the day.
The perfectly symmetrical monument standing tall since 1653 AD took 22 years & 20,000 laborers' to complete. The unquestionable beauty of this piece of extravagance can only be treasured by visiting it!
Return to hotel for breakfast.
Later driven to Jaipur enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri, The erstwhile capital of the Mughal Empire built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See Darbar-e-Aam, Palaces, Panch Mahal and Taansen Seat. A majestic complex of vivid architecture and carvings on red sandstone.
On arrival in Jaipur met & assisted for check in to your hotel.
Day 5 : Jaipur
An early breakfast followed by an excursion to the grand Amer Fort. Ascend the fort on a gaily-decorated elephant back. Experience the kingly palace buildings and a view of the city. You may also choose to walk uphill or with your driver in the car.
Later, visit the City Palace Museum Complex to witness the grandeur of royal lifestyle by visiting the display galleries of textiles & fabrics, paintings & art work, arms & ammunition gallery.
Further, Jantar Mantar - the observatory having instruments from 1728 AD for measuring celestial planet & star positions. Drive past the Palace of Winds (Hawa Mahal).
Evening enjoy walk through the colorful bazaars of the city. One can also experience the famous block printing at the nearby workshop. Jaipur is also famous for its Gems & Jewellery. One can shop endlessly as this place is a shoppers paradise on this tour.
Day 6 : Jaipur - Jodhpur (300 kms / 6 hrs)
Morning drive to Jodhpur - the city founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha. It is the second largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. On arrival check-in hotel.
Early evening village safari by jeep to the Bishnoi village to see the hand pottery, Bishnoi huts and local handicrafts. Bishnois are the famous community which is the protector of the wildlife. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7 : Jodhpur
A guided city sightseeing tour including Mehrangarh Fort - one of the largest forts in India; Umaid Bhawan Palace's museum (now a grand heritage luxury hotel), Jaswant Thada - a 19th century royal cenotaph, Mandore Gardens - The beautiful gardens with high rock terraces make it a popular picnic spot & walk through the Clock Tower - in the old city is a prominent land mark. But main attraction is the Sadar Market. The market has kept alive the old 'haat bazaar' culture.
Day 8 : Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur (330 kms / 6 hrs)
Morning drive to Udaipur with enroute stopover at Ranakpur, to visit the famous Jain temples which are known for it's intricate carving and hundreds of pillars which is worth a stop.
Arrive udaipur hotel by evening.
Day 9 : Udaipur
A guided sightseeing tour of the city visiting Sahelion-ki-Bari - The 'garden of the maidens' brings to mind the lifestyle of the ladies of the court. We walk through the main city in the narrow lanes passing through Jagdish temple through to City Palace museum main entrance. We enjoy the displays of various artefacts in the museum galleries placed in the heritage building of Mewar dynasty.
Enjoy sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola to experience lovely views of the Jagmandir Palace (also known as the Lake Garden Palace, is an exquisite palace placed in an estuary Island in Pichola Lake in Udaipur, the Lake Palace hotel, City Palace, Shiw Niwas & Fateh Prakash Palace hotel buildings.
Day 10 : Udaipur - Mumbai (By air)
Assisted and transferred to Udaipur airport to board direct flight for Mumbai - India's commercial capital, industrial powerhouse, busiest port, fashion capital, home to "Bollywood" (India's Hollywood), world's biggest textile market - the list goes on and on.
On arrival, assisted and transferred to hotel for check in.
This evening, you are free to enjoy the Marine Drive and the views of the Arabian sea over sunset. If you stay jsut a bit longer till the street lights are lit, the marine drive crescent represents a glittering queen's necklace.
Day 11 : Mumbai
Morning guided city tour including the Prince of Wales Museum, one of the best-known museums of the country. Architecturally it is an exquisite example of the Indo-Saracenic style, popular in India during the early part of this century, Gateway of India - an architectural marvel that scores over other buildings in Mumbai. Words fail to describe and picture postcards fail to capture the exact beauty of the monument, Crawford Market - a shopper's paradise and the Afghan Church in Colaba - Its a tribute to soldiers died in the Afghan Sindh war,
Also visit the UNESCO World Heritage buildings of Mumbai such as the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), previously known as the Victoria Terminus during British Rule, an outstanding example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture in India, blended with themes deriving from Indian traditional architecture. Mumbai High Court building, Mumbai University building.
Late afternoon, time to stroll on the Marine Drive, Colaba market and also visit the Hanging Gardens for a beautiful princess necklace view of the Marine Drive.
Day 12 : Mumbai - Aurangabad (By air)
Day at leisure un till transfer to Mumbai airport for a one hour flight to Aurangabad. It's a place of great importance due to it's location on the famous "Silk Route" that traversed across the breadth of Asia to reach Europe. Textiles, embroidered finery and various kinds of beads made in nearby Paithan were exported to the markets of Greece, Rome and Egypt.
Day 13 : Aurangabad
Guided excursion to the Ajanta Caves - a wonder that depicts the rich legacy of India. Acknowledged as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Approximately 30 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 CE. The caves include paintings and rock-cut sculptures described as among the finest surviving examples of ancient Indian art, particularly expressive paintings that present emotions through gesture, pose and form
Later, return to the city to visit important sites & vibrant market area such as the Bibi ka Maqbara - an architectural gem, a mausoleum with a marked resemblance to the Taj Mahal; Daulatabad Fort - it was the prime fortress of many successive dynasties in the Deccan and is famous for its series of trick defenses, secret escape routes.
Day 14 : Aurangabad - Mumbai (By air)
After breakfast, a short excursion to Ellora Caves- divided into three groups and roughly three periods: Buddhist, Hindu and Jain, these caves are created from living rock. The Buddhist and Jain caves are ornately carved, but are relatively calm, while the Hindu caves seem to burst with divine energy.
Late evening transfer to Aurangabad airport to board a short direct flight for Mumbai for further connection to your onward / return international flight.
Or, met & assisted on arrival at Mumbai airport for transfer to an airport hotel for room with wash 'n' change and farewell dinner at an Indian restaurant before departure flight or room for full night.
